Helen Cuthbert has joined the team at Mark Davies & Associates and brings an extensive experience of advising individuals, trustees and landed estates on both UK and international tax matters.
Mark Davies, Managing Tax Partner, comments on Helen’s appointment:
“Helen has trained young professionals for the demanding examinations of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. This means that as well as complementing our team with her exceptional tax knowledge, Helen also brings the rare ability to explain the complexities of the UK tax system to our clients. We advise many wealthy immigrants, whose first language is not always English, yet must navigate their way through convoluted tax laws and sometimes stressful HMRC enquiries.”
Helen Cuthbert describes the concerns she has seen affecting her clients during the pandemic:
“Travel restrictions and distancing measures have fundamentally changed the way in which our clients move and do business around the world. These changes are triggering interesting discussions regarding the tax implications of residence, establishment and the taxing rights of jurisdictions. Our clients are also turning their thoughts to the economic impact of the pandemic with the rumour mill in full swing on tax increases and potential reform; considering their capital taxes planning to protect against future gains.”
Helen’s focus is on personal tax planning for UK and non-domiciled individuals, including advice on the capital gains tax, income tax and inheritance tax implications of ownership structures for her clients’ businesses and investment assets.
